A TOUCH OF KINDNESS: Within a short moment--within a kind word or gentle touch--within just an instant you can make all the difference in another persons whole day. How easy is it to forget how much a difference we can make? It requires effort and energy to attend to another. It sometimes requires us to put down what we are doing, or stop thinking about whatever is on our minds, and then to lock eyes and to really listen. Perhaps we forget to do this because we are busy with all the things of our day, or because we just dont notice what is going on around us. We are a people terribly distracted. It seems logical to give more attention to lasting things--things that will matter beyond tomorrow, next week...next year. But so often the investment in anothers life is superseded by the need to finish daily tasks that mean very little in the scheme of all things. With all there is to do, where--or in whom--will you invest your time today? (Daily Devotion)
