It was widely reported at the time that the owner of the Taverna, 60-year-old Kamel Hamade, had spoken of closing his restaurant sometime in 2014 and helping his Afghan staff to open their own Afghan-run “Lebanese” restaurant. What was not reported was that Kamel had, in fact, already begun supporting this project.
