A Taste of Sunday at the Bridge... This Sunday, we continue our study of the life of David from 1 Samuel 20. During our time together, this passage and question will be discussed: 41 After the boy had gone, David got up from the south side of the stone and bowed down before Jonathan three times, with his face to the ground. Then they kissed each other and wept together—but David wept the most. 42 Jonathan said to David, “Go in peace, for we have sworn friendship with each other in the name of the LORD, saying, ‘The LORD is witness between you and me, and between your descendants and my descendants forever.’ ” Then David left, and Jonathan went back to the town. David is told to go in peace, but this is the most stressful time in David’s life! He must run from his family, run from his community, and the most powerful man in the nation is now hunting him down to kill him! How could he possibly be expected to have any peace at a time like this? From that, what about our own lives and our own stresses? What does Biblical peace really mean, and how can we experience it...if not because of our circumstances, then in spite of our circumstances? It should be a great Sunday!
