A Thousand Days of Yesterday (Time Since Come and Gone) was a highlight track of Captain Beyonds debut LP from summer 1972. Formed in Los Angeles, Captain Beyond was an Anglo-American group comprised of former members of Iron Butterfly, Deep Purple and the Johnny Winter band. But rather than being just a hard psyche rock outfit, CB ventured into early metal and jazz rock, along with psyche, for a one-of-a-kind sound. Thousand Days was the centerpiece for a suite of interconnected songs on the latter half of the LP, which was dedicated to the memory of Duane Allman.
