A Tribute To A Close Friend (to our Teacher) With sadness in losing one of the most fascinating and truly heart-filled love for all persons I have met in my lifetime, I pay a special gratitude and love for Bhante Santithito who passed away in the morning on Friday 29th August 2014 PHOTO - 2 weeks ago before his passing on. Bhante Santi, as those who knew him would call, was a Buddhist monk living in Wedderburn, Australia (just outside of Sydney) in a Laos Buddhist Vihara. Santi was originally from Germany. He was a young rebel who fought for good and rejected the times when there was still a Berlin Wall. He was one of the original hippies back in the 1960s. In search of peace and universal love and learning about it he left Germany and started to back-pack through Asia, eventually he found himself discovering Buddhism and the powers of meditation and remained in Thailand in a forest monastery for 30 years becoming ordained as a Buddhist monk before moving to Australia. Australia is where I met him. In the 7 yearsI have known him, I have come to know him well. We also became very close friends. I would see him often when I lived in Australia - almost every weekend with my wife, Megawaty, and our baby Yasodhara - he was present when Yadodhara was born. Bhante Santi had a very simple dream and, most importantly, a vision. He could talk without end on the values of love and our collective “universality” as people - but on a higher level that was truly fascinating and - I believe - to be very true. It was his passion and he shared his passion with thousands over the years and he had a very positive effect for helping others in the process. He will be very sorely missed by his followers - mostly because he was such a genuine and warm friend to so many and a teacher and spiritual mental healer to so many others. However, in meditating for him this morning, I felt him - he is still very much alive in energy and spirit and his positive influence will live on as will his inspiration. I spoke to him a few weeks ago in knowing of his terminal cancer but his attitude was fine and proper - he was not afraid of the eminent death. He knew it was only his body passing on - not his spirit and good giving - this will last forever. He is now in a place we do not have the brain capacity to comprehend - but I felt happiness from where he is now and hope when my time comes I arrive at the place as he has. We love you very much, Bhante Santi. Yasodhara, Megawaty, Jonathon, and Brent
