A Tullahoma man was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center Wednesday after a single vehicle crash on Highway 41A in Bedford County. According to a report by Tennessee Highway Patrolman Wesley Vick, a 1995 Dodge Dakota operated by Jerry Spencer, 66, of Tullahoma the crash occurred near the Rippy Ridge Road intersection. The troopers report states that Spencer was traveling northbound on Highway 41 when the vehicle veered off the left side of the roadway, struck a tree and came to rest on an embankment. Spencer was transported to Harton Regional Medical Center for treatment and was later flown by Lifeflight helicopter to Vanderbilt for treatment. However, a condition was not available from the hospital. Trooper Vicks report states that ambulance personnel advised that Spencer may have gotten ill before the crash. Spencer reportedly has a number of relatives who reside in the Cowan area.
