A US Navy MQ-8 firescout autonomous drone helicopter does its first take off from Naval vessel USS Jason Dunham, and the USS Fort Worth. Yes, it is autonomous to some extent. Takeoffs, landings, and patrols are / can be fully assigned to the computer controlled system. Worthy to note that the ship is moving at a fairly fast clip, the winds must be strong -- the computer controlled takeoff and landing is flawless, as well as the helicopter keeping up with the ship as it makes turns left and right -- is very phenomenal flying for anyone, or any computer controlled system. There are pilots (like the drone pilots seen in the lower right split screen), these control room pilots can manually control the drone, or let it fly on automatic - as they do with the regular armed drone planes we commonly see in warzones these days. US Navy released these videos on December 16-17 2014.
