A VERY SPECIAL ALUMNI UPDATE! Belle came to us two years ago - TopicsExpress

A VERY SPECIAL ALUMNI UPDATE! Belle came to us two years ago with her siblings when she was just a little pup. Everyone in the litter had some sort of vision and/or hearing impairment, and Belle herself was born without eyes (though she can hear just fine!). However sweet Belle also had a very rare skin condition, causing her to lose patches of fur on her face, and her skin became very red and scabbed. We were so worried that no one would be able to look past her disabilities to see what an amazing, gentle girl she is. We were so happy when Carol (first Belles foster, then her adopter!) came along - she has been there with Belle from the start, taking her to UC Davis to have her skin treated and never seeing Belle as limited due to her disabilities. Last Thursday (the 14th) we got this wonderful note from Carol!: Guess whos birthday we are celebrating today? Ms. Belle! She has been doing so well. This summer she continued her training and even attended class with dogs that compete in obedience. She loves tracking...cant hide a hotdog from that girl. Her crowning moment was doing a perfect off leash figure eight between two dogs. The whole class stopped and applauded her. The training continues to give her confidence and when she goes on her off leash hikes with the other dogs, Belle loves to lead the pack. You would be quite proud of her! I attached a video of her mountain biking in the backyard or rather, herding my boyfriend. I cant believe I have had Belle two years. She is amazing and makes us smile everyday. Thank you Carol for giving our special girl such a wonderful life. So many amazing dogs have come through Family Dog Rescue, but little Belle truly has a special place in our hearts - and so do you Carol!!
