A Veterans Bleeding Heart: There are some days that I reflect - TopicsExpress

A Veterans Bleeding Heart: There are some days that I reflect on my life and think about the milestones that I have missed because of my life choices: the perfect wedding, college graduation, sorority life, college sports, owning a home, and having a career before I hit 30. Sometimes its hard for me to look at my 8yrs and 19days Active Duty as more than a huge inconvenience because it stopped all of these things for me, what makes it harder is when there are people in my life who are supposed to love me the most and have respect for me, treat me like im either still a child since Ive been gone for 10 years, or like Im old hat in their lives because their new lives are more interesting or something to that effect. These are the days that I try my hardest to remember that I stepped up and did something that only 1% of Americans do, defend the rights that everyone else uses even if they dont care that there are people who sacrifice similar life milestones, our own personal American rights, our mental stability, and some even their lives. Then I remember, Im an Honorable person with Integrity and Courage. No matter who insults me, disrespects me, or treats me like Im yesterdays news, they didnt do what I did, they didnt put their lives on hold to be abused, worked to death, and risk their very lives so that others may sleep in their Sorority houses, play their College sports, get their Degrees, and do their lives in the typical forward motion that is expected from society. Veterans day is Tuesday November 11th. On this day, I would like you to think about those in your life who have served for you, and those who have died for you even though they didnt know you and thank God that there is someone out there that would step up to make your lives safer by sacrificing their own. Some of our troops have never returned home from war, physically and/or mentally; these are the people who have made the sacrifice so you didnt have to, for whatever reason you decided not to our people, my people, are the ones who did it for you so you dont have bombs exploding in your back yard. You dont need to thank us, you need to appreciate us and respect us because words are cheap, actions are what matters. End Rant
