A WEEK COMBATING STORMS AND RESPONDING TO RESCUES and so much - TopicsExpress

A WEEK COMBATING STORMS AND RESPONDING TO RESCUES and so much more..... The Hawkesbury Unit has had a busy week with four (4) rescue jobs and a large number of requests for assistance with storm damage. LAST SUNDAY NIGHT the rescue team responded out to Maraylya to a report of a male trapped on Quad bike against a fence. Fortunately our team only needed to light up the scene and assist ASNSW paramedics to carry the man to the awaiting rescue helicopter. On a humorous note - the rescue teams greatest challenge on the night was herding a large number of very inquisitive cattle away from the rescue helicopter which had landed in the paddock. A CHILD AND DOG TRAPPED DOWN A HOLE was a report received on Monday which saw a major emergency services response up to Putty. Fortunately with the arrival of SES rescue, Ambulance rescue and Fire & Rescue the report was updated to be just a dog down a hole which had already been extracted without our assistance. TWO ROAD CRASH RESCUES on Wednesday (Windsor) and Saturday (Richmond) required the SES rescue team to extricate a driver and a passenger from their car and assist ASNSW Paramedics. TWO BIG STORMS on Monday and Tuesday certainly kept our members busy with requests for assistance coming in from Lower Macdonald, Windsor, Windsor Downs, Richmond, North Richmond, Agnes Banks and McGraths Hill. FLASH FLOODING throughout the Sydney Southern Region on Tuesday night saw Hawkesbury SES send one of their Level 3 Flood Rescue Operators into support flood rescue operations. STORM DAMAGE in Lithgow on Thursday saw 2 members helping their colleagues from the Central West with a number of storm damage jobs and trees down. AND TO TOP OFF A BUSY WEEK nine of our members continued their flood boat training on Saturday; and the unit hosted a two day Vertical Rescue workshop / meeting with key vertical rescue instructors from throughout the State.
