A WORD FROM OUR PASTORS PEN (Rev. Dr. Mark Hardy) FOR SUNDAY - TopicsExpress

A WORD FROM OUR PASTORS PEN (Rev. Dr. Mark Hardy) FOR SUNDAY NOVEMBER 17, 2013: Did anyone ever have to say to you, “Tell me something, “no” is not in your vocabulary?” Or have you had to say it someone, “You can’t say ‘no”? As small as it is “no” is one of the most powerful words in the English Language. It can mark the difference between the past and the future, success from failure, good from bad, and progress from stagnation (or regression). God’s desire for your life is for you to experience His goodness and favour. But as with everything that comes from Him, there are conditions that you must meet and, interestingly, the word “no” plays a critical part. You will have to say “no” to selfish desires and tendencies; “no” to your stubborn will and yield yourself to God; “no” to sin and worldliness and commit to holiness and truth; “no” to temptations and commit to a life of faith and integrity. This is very important because you and I know full well that the mere utterance of the word “no” by itself will not empower us to be and do for the Lord. If that was all that was required, you would be a spiritual giant today and our youths would not have the struggles that they continue to grapple with. “No” must be coupled with commitment to the seriousness of purpose and consistency in focus. To experience Spiritual growth and maturity one must equally say “yes” to being filled with the Word and “yes” to being led by the Spirit. Saying, “Yes,” to God opens the door to a limitless future as you experience the joy that come with liberating yourself to fulfilling your God ordained purpose.
