A Wayne County Circuit Judge was baffled to learn a 25-year-old man accused of fatally shooting a 2-year-old girl execution-style in front of her father wasn’t behind bars at the time of the shooting. Raymone Jackson, wearing a yellow prison jumpsuit, was arraigned before Judge David A. Groner Tuesday morning on a slew of charges: first-degree murder, torture, two counts of assault with intent to murder, felonious assault, felon in possession of a firearm and committing a felony with firearm. Jackson appeared before Groner in 2013 for possession of a controlled subtance less than 25 grams, failure to stop after a collision and operation on a suspended or revoked license. On Sept. 11, Groner sentenced him on the drug charge to two years of probation and an 11-month jail sentence to be served upon the completion of his parole. The other two charges had been dismissed. Jackson, who was in prison on a separate drug charge, was paroled from Detroit Re-entry Center on March 26. He completed his parole on June 25. Groner said Jackson at that time should’ve went back to serve his 11-month jail term. “Did he ever do the 11 months I sentenced him to?” Groner asked a representative from the Michigan Department of Corrections. “It appears he didn’t your honor,” the MDOC rep said. :O Instead, he was DISCHARGED FROM PAROLE A WEEK BEFORE prosecutors say HE SHOT KaMiya Gross, 2, IN THE HEAD on July 1 outside of her home in 30000 block of Carlyle in Inkster. “Certainly when someone’s on probation in this court, the court wants to know what occurred,” Groner said. “I think everyone probably assumed he was on parole he was going to get additional time, he was going to be in prison, but I don’t know what happened.” Jackson’s defense attorney Evan Callanan entered a not guilty plea to the charges, which qualified as a probation violation for Jackson. Callanan waived Jackson’s right to a court hearing on the violation. His client was scheduled return to Circuit Court on Friday for his trial before Judge Ulysses Boykin. Jackson also allegedly shot KaMiya’s 36-year-old father, Kenneth French, and 12-year-old cousin, Chelsea Lancaster. Jackson’s co-defendant, Raphael Hearn, is charged with first-degree murder, two counts of assault with intent to murder and committing a felony with a firearm. He was ordered to undergo a mental competency evaluation. Johnson ordered him back to court on Sept. 4 to determine whether he will be bound over for trial.
