The income of TASS comes from the membership fees and member donation. The members are from all walks of life. The major members are from the academic, business and professional sectors with developing theoretical capacity or administrative practice experience. They are familiar with the game theory. It is applied to crisis management, negotiation and conflict, strategic planning and war games. The other members are professional and technical people who are interested in different level and fields of strategy, such as national security strategy, military strategy, economic strategy, business strategy, political strategy, psychological strategy and so forth. In the past eight years, they have designed the different scenarios and used the war game and game theory to simulate and research a lot of case studies. Some of them were used in the 1995, 1996 Taiwan Strait Missile Crisis; 921 Big Earthquake; the negotiation of World Trade Organization (WTO) membership qualification in the last phase and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) epidemic in Taiwan. They all have rich practical experience. On Friday, at 1130, I took the HSR to Taipei. When I arrived at the Taipei Terminal Station at 1306, a member of TASS came to station to meet me. Then, we walked to the office of TASS along the MRT underground street and mall to Zhongshan(中山) Station. It took us 10 minutes. When we came out of the Zhongshan Station, Exit 2, TASS was nearby. I attended the academic studies and discussion on time. The subject was the Study on Organization Downsizing of Ministry of National Defense and Armed Forces. There were 10 people who attended the seminar. All of the attendees are retired officers and military experts. A Project Study Group made a presentation for us. Then, we began to discuss the draft report one page by one page. We tried to make the study have the better possibility, adaptability and acceptability. We also tried to find the dilemma and countermeasure. This was an initial and draft report. All attendees gave the group some suggestions and advice. Based on the suggestions and advice, the project group will write their detailed study report.
