A Wise Mama Asks: I am very anti-physical punishment. I dont believe for the most part in parenting punitively and I try to utilize gentle parenting resources. I have a lot of good techniques and know where to look when I have an issue. My main problem is that I am having a hard time pausing and reacting calmly when my two year old doesnt listen, or does something that makes me mad. I know that he is behaving in a developmentally normal way but I need advice more on how to handle my own temper. I have never hit him but I have grabbed him roughly by the arm a couple times. I was raised in an abusive home and non violence is not easy for me but I am very committed to it. I would just like to know what other mamas do to help themselves stop in the moment and react appropriately.
