A Word From OOSA: Text talk should NEVER be an option in any literary communications. Wld u review ma book 4 me. Itz gud. Seriously? Yes, unfortunately, seriously. Sadly, we are seeing more and more review requests and other communications with text talk. It does not give a good impression. It has the exact opposite effect. And it will do nothing towards advancing the purpose of the correspondence. Yes, many use text talk on sites such as Twitter, where space is limited and abbreviations are acceptable. However, professional communication, including cover letters, emails, queries, and review requests, are not the appropriate forums for text talk. Would you want to invest your time or money with someone who can’t even spell out a word in an email to you? No, of course not. So why would you expect readers to? If you’re truly serious about your career as a writer, you must be professional in every aspect of your efforts.
