It takes guts to go against a tide of weve always done it this way. The NAACP tried to run some folks out on a rail, out of their convention, because they said things that did not tickle ears. Meanwhile, these same folks cannot level ordinary mild critiques at national, state and local leaders and bureaucrats without facing charges of animus and lapdog. Or worse, and you know what I mean. God forbid someone step out of line. This country, this world, needs every heart, every soul, and all hands to the wheel. Someone, some people, are having a genuine field day, laughing at how easy it is to divvy us up and pit us against one another. And for a profit. We all grow poorer for it, not just the black citizen, but all of us. The leaders you seek, men and women of color, are before all of our eyes, and they are in our neighborhoods, being great neighbors, raising their children, making us safer. But they are rejected when they visit Nazareth, as it is written: A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home. And what is a prophet, except someone who saw the other side of the hill and knows the scenic route. To be sane, do something sane.
