A Yoga class can do a lot of good for people suffering from personality disorders. Some people report that one hour of Yoga is often the best hour of the week, because Yoga helps alleviate some of the effects of borderline personality disorder (BPD), such as emotional instability, episodic dysphoria, irritability, anxiety, feelings of emptiness, stress-related paranoid thoughts, and dissociative symptoms. It is not surprising that one of the premier treatments for BPD, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), incorporates several key elements of Yoga. For instance, both Yoga and DBT talk about mindfulness, a calm awareness of various aspects of one’s self... The physical exercise part of Yoga is also very good for alleviating symptoms of depression. PDAN shall post more about the benefits of physical exercise on our mental health in coming weeks.
