A band’s van and equipment which was stolen during a burglary has been recovered in Manchester. The burglary happened between 11.30pm on Tuesday 9 December 2014 and 5.30am on Wednesday 10 December 2014, when thieves approached a house on Greening Road. They used a hook and cane type implement and pushed it through the letterbox and removed house keys which were hung up behind the door. Once inside the offenders ransacked the rooms downstairs and stole an iMac, Xbox, flat screen television and other personal items. During the search the keys for the van which was parked on the road were stolen, the offender loaded the van with their booty and drove off in an unknown direction. Late last night officers received information that a van matching the description of the van stolen in the burglary was parked on a street in Beswick. Officers swiftly attended the address and the van was recovered. The van was searched this morning and all of The Travelling Band’s equipment was inside. Police Constable Nichola Simpson from North Manchester division, said: “Thanks to a quick response from the public the band have been reunited with their priceless instruments and equipment.” Adam Gorman, from The Travelling Band, said: Miraculously we have some good news. The van was recovered late last night in Beswick after a resident who had seen one of the articles about the robbery got in touch with a photo of the van parked outside their house. “The police were quickly on the scene and the van was recovered. We were unable to find out whether the contents of the back were intact until this morning, so have had a pretty restless night! “Weve just arrived home from where the van is being kept for forensic investigation and Im overjoyed to say that all the equipment is still in the back of the van. The van is in pretty bad shape but we couldnt have asked for a better outcome. “The support and help we received from the public and media has been absolutely fantastic, and that is essentially what has led to the safe return of the equipment, as well as the hard work of PC Nichola Simpson and the press team at GMP HQ. We want to thank everyone who has posted, tweeted shared and written anything about this. It worked!”
