A beach trip became a school tradition each September. Owning the shore, we studied types of shells, sea plants and ocean animals, tides and tidepools, ships and even airplanes having close proximity to Pensacolas naval aviation musuem . One year, blue crabs littered the sand and skittered out of our way as we walked among the waves. Another year, in response to a midnight call from scientists wed met, we were there waiting in the moonlight when hundreds of baby sea turtles boiled from their nest to parade out into the ocean. And, of course there was THAT year when a hurricane drew close enough to cause a double red flag warning which we didnt see until we had survived our own glorious battle with ten foot waves. Good memories! How I look forward to continuing to fill this treasure chest. Senior year, sophomore year, and 2nd grade - Here we come !!
