A bit too much and too harsh, in my opinion, has been said about the so-called gender neutrality of some modern English versions. When you really look at the issue, many of the objections are shown to be baseless, especially in the light of how Greek really works. For example, look at our Lords statement in Matt 10:32: Πᾶς οὖν ὅστις ὁμολογήσει ἐν ἐμοὶ ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ὁμολογήσω κἀγὼ ... Notice that we must acknowledge Him before ἀνθρώπων, a word which is not a male person but simply a person (there is another word for male - ανήρ). But a version favored by complementarians (and I also am one), the ESV, translates it this way: So everyone who acknowledges me before men... But is the alternative the rather stilted rendering of the New Jerusalem Bible? If anyone declares himself for me in the presence of human beings ... Now look at the sensible rendering of the NIV: Whoever acknowledges me before others... My complementarian convictions are not threatened by this quite accurate functional rendering. Dont buy into simplistic attacks that are not supported by a knowledge of how Biblical languages work. Study the languages. Study them!
