A blast from the past is coming back??? 50 years ago this fall, in 1964, Caldor opened on Rt. 117 in Bedford Hills, just past the Mount Kisco border. At one point, the company was the 5th largest retailer in America! The business closed its 160 stores in 1999, and laid off 24,000 employees due to increasing competition. The Bedford Hills site is now a Kohls. But....in May 2014, a holding group lead by Justin Calabrese and family bought the business rights and intellectual property of Caldor, and hope to be online with Caldor in late 2015!
