A blog worth sharing: jenniferwheelerphotography/thing-addiction/ I admit, when I heard about Phillip Seymour Hoffman dying with a needle in his arm not only was I sad about the loss of such an amazing actor, but I also had the thoughts Well duh, if you shoot heroin you will eventually die. Whyd he do something so dumb? Id never do that. This article puts it in a way I hadnt considered. Even though most of us havent gone as far as to use heroin weve probably all faced an addiction of one kind or another to different degrees. Diet Mountain Dew isnt heroin. It isnt even close. Im coming up on 6 months without it and my coworker is coming up on 2 years without regular Mountain Dew. We both still miss it. When Im at the checkout aisle at the store I sometimes find myself reaching for a bottle of it out of habit. It was a very hard habit for me to break, and its a relatively harmless one in the grand scheme of things. If it had been something with a stronger physical addiction in addition to the mental one I dont think I could have quit.
