A brief account of love, faith, diet and alternative medicine (Nanas Magic Oil): One year ago today, Erin and I were informed by the highly respected CSU Vet Hospital that our sweet, smart and unconditionally loving Iris would not be sharing this journey with us for too much longer. Treating the aggressive c word with chemo and radiation might give us a year. Do nothing, and we might get 6 months. As I type this – 365 days after the official diagnosis, 17 months after the initial discovery, and perhaps 2 years after it first formed – and Iris is, by the only measurements that truly matter, happy, healthy and loving life. She is playful, frisky, full of attitude, could eat 24 x 7, and shows Erin and I just how out of shape we are when she takes us for walks. I am extremely grateful for Iris and her continued companionship. I am also extremely thankful for my Mom (Kitty), her wisdom and her knowledge of healing; and of my darling Erin, the best puppy momma around.
