A brief review of some great initiatives by the PML-N government in mere past 5 months’ time span: 1 – PM Nawaz Sharif right after taking charge of his office, announced 30% reduction in non-development expenditures - which is saving Rs. 45 Crore per annum of this Nation. 2- PM house budget reduced from Rs. 80 crore to Rs. 40 crore. Given the conduct of previous Federal govt. of PPP, 50% reduction is landmark achievement straight away from the PM himself made this nation feel proud to see a positive CHANGE practically. 3 – Expenditure of PM’s official foreign visits is 1/10th of what Government of Pakistan used to incur during previous tenure of PPP. 4 – Information Ministry’s secret funds of Rs. 3 billion per annum were abolished and similarly discretionary funds of all the ministries which was the source of huge corruption. 5 – Smallest cabinet compared to other govt. in last 10 years. 6 – After 7 years, 1st Hajj operation which is well managed by this govt. without any scam and corruption. 7 – After 2 decades, 1st civil nuclear power plant of 2200MW being established with the assistance of China. 8 – Dead projects like Nandipur (450MW) & Neelum Jehlum (1100MW) are reactivated to be completed in 18 months iA. 9 – Asian Development Bank’s $1.2 billion assistance for 1200MW coal fired power plant at Jamshoro shows the credibility of current govt among international community. 10 – Professional successful lobby of current govt. with EU countries resulting in a privileged GSP+ status for Pakistan. 11 – Loadshedding reduced 40% compared to previous tenures. 12 – To resolve gas shortage, LNG import contract with Qatar govt. which will bridge demand/supply gap of gas by Nov 2014. 13 – Substantive reduction in target killing, bhatta khori resulting in significant relief for business community of Karachi and the general public. 14 – As per the promise of PM during election campaign, Youth Business Loan of Rs. 100 billion for the entrepreneurial youth of this nation which will generate 2 to 3 million jobs and a huge economic activity being carried out transparently. 15 – No corruption scam at government level – Latest report of Transparency international shows that Pakistan improves worldwide on transparency index. 16 – Centuries old corrupt system of Patwarism being eradicated through Land Record Management & Information System introduced by the Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.
