A calories a calories a calorie..... Thats what were all told, - TopicsExpress

A calories a calories a calorie..... Thats what were all told, but are all calories created equal? For this example Im using a popular Medium Skinny Latte and a Black coffee with full fat cream both with the same amount of calories(131kcal approx) per serving but different Macro-nutrient profiles... 1. Protein - 12.6g, Fats - 0.3g, Carbohydrates - 19.5g 2. Protein - 0.5g, Fats - 14.3g, Carbohydrates - 0.8g As you can see both examples have pretty much opposite breakdowns, which means theyll have different hormonal effects on the body. One is going to increase insulin, reduce fat burning for a period of time, potentially reduce mental clarity and increase hunger not long after. The other is going to keep insulin levels minimal, provide some energy, increase satiety and allow fat burning to continue. Now, were not demonising foods, drinks, insulin here or saying calories dont exist at all... But maybe we should take things into consideration such as the metabolic and hormonal effects foods have on the body or the nutritional density of the foods. Is a healthy 0% fat higher carb breakfast the best way to start the day? These are just some of the topics we will be discussing at our up and coming Bootcamp Nutrition Seminar next month to provide our clients with the knowledge to achieve optimal results, health and longevity. #TeamiPT #Knowledgeispower #Community #Results #Health
