A child whos been playing a sport for many years doesnt necessarily mean theyre athletic and know how to move well. Great sport specific skills does not mean great athletic skills. A coach spending 10-15 minutes at every practice working on a childs athleticism will go a long way over time to develop a players athleticism including but not limited to their coordination, speed, agility, strength and power, not to mention their confidence and self-esteem. This small investment in each player will lead to improved athletic skills and greater injury resistance over time. In addition sport performance across many sports will also improve over time. Invest in the child, not the scoreboard and everyone wins.
