A classic holiday treat to make and share with others! Candied nuts For the last few years now I have made this simple recipe as gifts for friends and family. I dont know about yall, but this year I have my shopping completed early so its time to get cooking. There are so many wonderful desserts and appetizers and parties to attend. I decided to make these a little early this year so you all have time to make these too. I use mason jars or holiday tins and tissue paper to package them. There are lots of recipes for candied pecans or nuts so you can flavor them to your liking. I personally just use cinnamon and vanilla, but I use a variety of nuts. This year I used pecans, almonds, cashews, and walnuts. I dont recommend peanuts, but this is your recipe. The recipe I used this time called for a pound of nuts and I made 5 so keep that in mind if making in bulk. So lets get started! Ingredients 1lb Pecans or nut of choice 1 large egg white 1 tbsp Water 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract 1 cup Granulated sugar 1/2 tsp Salt 1 tsp Cinnamon There is not much to these at all. Get out all your ingredients and do your math if you are making more than a pound which I recommend since they are so good! Preheat oven to 250F In a large mixing bowl whisk your egg whites, water, and Vanilla till it is frothy. In a separate bowl mix your sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the nuts to the egg mixture to get them all coated. If you make several pounds like I do you might have to pour your wash on to your nuts after you put them on a baking sheet. Once your nuts are all wet from the egg wash pour half your sugar mixture onto the nuts. Stir or toss the nuts to get them all coated. Add the rest of the sugar mixture to finish covering all the nuts. On a baking sheet covered in parchment paper spread the nuts in an even layer. I had to use three baking sheets for all the nuts. Put the nuts in the oven for an hour and take them out each 15minutes to stir them all and keep them from burning. Once baked let them cool. After cooling I like to line Christmas tins with tissue paper and add the nuts. Enjoy! Like and Share this post to share with friends.
