A common challenge in anyones health and fitness lifestyle is when our routine gets thrown off by an unexpected responsibility or obstacle. Kids get sick, jobs get busy, surprise dinner out, tragic unexpected news. Each one of those things could have its own blog written about it, but in general we need to learn how to do a couple things: 1. Remove the connection between stress and food (vBlog on this being posted Friday AM) 2. Learn to do what we can when time is short or plans change Life happens to EVERYONE so dont feel like youre some special case scenario. We all face obstacles along the way, but its how we handle those obstacles that can make or break our progress. When I started my weight loss journey I was fortunate enough to have time in the evenings when I could go to the gym and get my cardio in (I had yet to pick up a weight at that time). However a change in my wifes schedule made my evening time much more scarce. That would have been a prime opportunity for me to give up and say I just dont have the time to workout. I mean in all reality, I was working 2 jobs, had a baby and a 6 year old daughter, I had a 60 mile (each way) commute to work.....I had some heavy responsibilities. But even with that schedule change, I didnt give up. I made it happen. I prepped my food for work and ate my lunch quickly, sometimes even as quickly as I could take a bathroom break because I knew Id need every minute of my lunch hour to drive to the gym, change, bust out 26.5 minutes of cardio (yes, I had this stuff down to the second) and get back and at my desk in time for work. At home, Id take opportunities whenever I could to do whatever I could.....push-ups, sit-ups, burpees, running the stairs of my house. This was all while watching my son and it worked! The weight continued to fall off as it was when I had all the time I needed in the gym. My point of all that is to say, where theres a will, theres a way! Make it happen. You CAN do it, the only question is....will you? Much Love, -Jeremy Jeremy Reid Fitness
