A common thread among atheists is to point to evil in the world as proof that a God cannot exist. This argument is ripe with problems. First, if there is no God, the definition of "evil" is relative, unconfined in not defensible. Second, most of the "evil" atheists highlight are crimes against humans; genocide and starvation are two notable examples. If there is no God and we are simply animals, then only the fit should survive. Starvation of the weak and survival of the strong would logically be considered natural to the human condition, not evil. Genocide is simply one species variant overtaking another; again no judgment should be declared if we are simply animals. Yet, from somewhere a transcendent morality was handed to the human animal. Somehow, the idea of good and evil behavior entered the world and into our minds. From somewhere we get the idea that survival of all humans--including the weak--is a noble pursuit. We feel that all variations of the human have a right to live and genocide is "wrong." The existence of natural instincts "evil" does more to prove our evolutionary past than disprove God. Good exists because there is a God. If there was no good, there would be no God and we would simply be living a meager amoral life where only the strong survive.
