A condolence meeting was held at National Archives, Bubaneswar for paying tribute to Prof Bipan Chandra(1928-2014), the noted historian, who passed away at Delhi on 30th August 2014. Presided over by Mr Sauribandhu Kar, a noted writer and trade union leader of Odisha, the meeting witnessed a good number of historians and history students Ravenshaw university, Utkal University and Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar and social activists from Bhuban. The speakers included Prof Chandi Prasad Nanda, Prof Pritish Acharya, Prof Abhiram Biswal, Prof Basant Mallik, Dr Priyadarshi Kar, Prof Sushmit Pani and Dr Lalatendu Das Mahapatra.They described, Prof Bipan had not only been a great historian, but also a legendary teacher, scholar and an activist.
