A congratulations to Josh Beckett - who retired today - for a great career and for being the biggest reason for the 2007 series win by my Sox (and although the vast majority of other Sox fans bitterly dislike him for whatever reason, he should never have to pay for a beer in any tavern in Boston ever again based on that season alone). That said, heres my question for you: Based on events unfolding today with his retirement and this just finished season, what did Josh do on May 25th of this year that no other pitcher in baseball history has accomplished (to my knowledge, anyway, because I googled it to death for a while just a bit ago), an achievement not even reached by fellow ex-Dodger Sandy Koufax (though Koufax, again to my knowledge, ironically, came the closest to matching, from what I can gather)? UPDATE: 5:03....Brad Pearl C. in comments found that Addie Joss matched it in his last season in 1910. Great research, Brad. I looked a long time online and in my baseball book collection before this post. UPDATE 2: Brad also found that Ed Head did it too (1946).
