A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans milling and paving along the one way section of US 45 in MAYFIELD starting Thursday, July 18, 2013. This northbound leg of the project runs along US 45 from West Walnut Street at mile point 16.594 extending along the northbound lanes to East James Street at mile point 17.553, a distance of .96 miles. This section includes areas along West Walnut Street, South Street, and North 7th Street. The southbound let of the project extends along US 45 from East James Street at mile point 17.553 extending along the southbound lanes to West Walnut Street at mile point 16.594, a distance of .96 miles. This section of US 45 includes North Street, South 8th Street and West Water Street. Residents along sections of this project should avoid use of on-street parking during the work. Caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are working along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow. Jim Smith Contracting is the prime contractor on this $382,704 highway improvement project. The work should be completed in about a week, weather permitting.
