A cosy consensus exists in the European Parliament in favour of the austerity measures of the Commission and the transfer of power from elected governments to unelected bureaucrats. On several key votes, such as the Austerity Treaty, the erosion of democratic rights, more funding for youth unemployment, the EUs cuts budget, Paul Murphy found himself in a minority of one among MEPs from the state. Use 23 May to re-elect the only opposition MEP.
