A couple of days ago, I did something that I dont typically do in a Sunday - I sent an email to our subscribers. Judging by the response I got, it seemed to touch a few people, so, with your permission, Im going to reproduce it here in full (sorry - it is a little long) and I hope it speaks to you in the way it has to the people who have responded :) ~ Ozzy ____________________________________ a very personal note from Carole and Ozzy Hey, Ozzy here again... I know its Sunday but I just wanted to catch up with you and offer a few thoughts. This week has been pretty eventful for us in lots of ways. I wont go into them all now but I will pick out a couple of highlights, if thats ok with you. Without doubt, the best thing that happened this week was meeting up with our friends Tony and Jessica Rush, who are over here in the U.K. from their home in Alabama. I dont mind telling you, Tony and Jessica have assumed an enormous importance in our lives and are both an influence and an inspiration to us (to a greater extent than either of them realise). I also had the enormous pleasure of meeting another great guy over here from the U.S., Sam Crowley, for the first time. Sam is one of the most positive people you can ever meet (and I dont mean in that whoop, whoop, everythings great sort of way!) and is never shy when it comes to showing gratitude. And its that willingness to show gratitude that actually brings me to the purpose of this email. This week, Ive had the great good fortune to meet up again with old friends and meet for the first time a new one - all of whom were over here at the time of Thanksgiving - a time, as I understand it, typically spent with families. Tony, Jessica and Sam, though, had this year chosen instead, to come over here and give of their time to their friends in the U.K. We dont have a Thanksgiving celebration here in the U.K. - but this week has really made me think that we should. We really do need a day when the nation can come together and show our gratitude for what we have. I know there may be times when we feel its not going our way, that we want more out of life, that the other guy has an unfair advantage. But, however crappy the day were having, we can always, ALWAYS find something to be grateful for. Just like now, Im grateful for the fact that Tony, Jessica and Sam all flew thousands of miles to see us here in the U.K. And Im grateful to you and to every one of our subscribers and team members for helping us to get where we are today. So thank you. Carole and Ozzy P.S. By now youve probably seen news bulletins showing that, while we dont have a Thanksgiving celebration over here in the U.K., we do now, for the first time, have Black Friday - with all the associated crowds, pushing, shoving, fist-fights and arrests. This is just a personal view, of course, but given a choice between importing a) the notion of Thanksgiving or b) trampling over your neighbour to get a bargain, I think we probably picked the wrong one. __________________________ And just so you know, that gratitude I extended to our subscribers in that email also extends to our friends here on FB, too - so thank you.
