A couple of our staff and a US official travelling by Brussels Air - TopicsExpress

A couple of our staff and a US official travelling by Brussels Air to Freetown were stranded in Dakar a couple days back - and in the case of our colleagues we havent seen them yet - when supposedly Brussels Air told them that the plane was too big to land in Freetown. This seems unlikely. Checking online, Lungis runway is 3,200 m. long, and both the Boeing 747 and the Airbus A380 only need 1,900 m. to land (minimum distance). I remember that the runway was extended in 1981 for the OAU conference to accommodate 747s.
