A couple of weeks ago we talked about civil forfeiture, when police can simply take and spend money and assets obtained while investigating a possible crime, sometimes even if no crime occurred. I have a complaint with the video, though, which is that it doesnt explore how intimately connected civil forfeiture laws are with the drug war-he makes them seem like just some goofy, clearly terrible remnant in our legal system, but actually they are a big part of the system of perverse incentives put in place in the 80s to finance the drug war.
