A couple of weeks back I was out walking my Rottweiler, Rommel, - TopicsExpress

A couple of weeks back I was out walking my Rottweiler, Rommel, and this drunk guy staggered past and kept on trying to get in to pet him. I eventually had to quite firmly say that my dog wasnt friendly and didnt like being touched by strangers, and the guy kinda took the huff and stormed off. Today, the same guy - still drunk, at about 11am - marched up to me and was getting right in my face, saying, Whats your problem? Walking a Rottweiler that I cant clap? Thats a disgrace, its not safe. I was too focused on making sure Rommel remained distracted sniffing flowers and didnt see the guy confronting his owner to say anything back. Heres the thing: Rommel has never bitten or attacked anyone. But the simple fact is he doesnt like strangers. Hes very affectionate with the family, but if he doesnt know you, and you longer too close or eyeball him, hell probably growl at you. And so, as a responsible owner, I think its best to keep him away from people... not because hes dangerous, but because Id rather not take any chances. I certainly dont want an aggressive drunk guy hanging all over him and getting in his personal space.
