A couple of years ago I read a story: how Wal-Mart makes $ selling brand name items. Gave example for Levi jeans. In order to meet low price for WM to purchase from Levi the Levi company had to make an inferior product, which is a Levi look-a-like from the Levi company but is, well, shoddy. A few weeks ago I went to my local WM (my health ins has me use the WM pharmacy) and while in the store remembered that I needed a new filter for my Britta water pitcher. But I soon noticed quite a buildup of black stuff, probably from the carbon elements in the filter, but the water tasted so odd that I threw out the filter and bought drinking water off the counter at the supermarket. Which made me wonder: how many producers will deliver an inferior product to WM? And of those how many might not be all that good for our well-being? Not to mention the well-being of our fellow humans and our planet....
