A cure is still probably a long way off, but I remember a diabetic friend telling me when I was first diagnosed, some 12 years ago, just to treat it as my best friend and nurture it. Treat every injection and tablet as a treat for your body. In return, your new friend will take care of you and respect you for it. Treat it as an enemy at your peril. At times, my best friend can be very harsh, but extremely forgiving when treated the right way.
