A day of handling matters with the City of Philadelphia left me 1) threatened with a fine for not having the proper license to own a vacant building-- even though I and two other families live in that alleged vacant building, and 2) with thousands of dollars of fines for sanitation services from before I owned the building (which the city worker clearly could confirm from the info. on his computer screen) and WHEN IT WAS VACANT. Ah, a bit of Kafka-esque existential paralysis. But both issues have dragged on for years, so why assume a day can get them taken care of?
