A developing story within the tragic Baby Veronica saga is that her birthmother is challenging the constitutionality of ICWA. We fully support the original intent of this law – states should not have the right to arbitrarily remove Indian children and place them with white families. However, in voluntary placements we believe expectant parents should be empowered to make the choice they feel best serves their child.
