A famous celebrity is dead. Death by suicide is what they call it. It is tragic that is for certain, but what I find even more tragic is the number of people commenting about this, posting, sharing, re-tweeting....and the incredulous remarks ranging from he had it all - why him, to he was so funny and positive, who could have known he had depression?.....friends, here is a cold, hard reality many of you DO NOT UNDERSTAND....Depression, anxiety, feelings of low-self worth - can strike anybody, can affect anybody and at any time...I have posted in the past of struggles with Depression and I am neither ashamed of this or closed off about discussing it - those who belittle, ridicule, and judge me are the ones who should be ashamed...It bothers me that a global celebrity has died of this horrible DISEASE (YES - A DISEASE!!!) FOR the world to recognize DEPRESSION FOR WHAT IT IS - A DISEASE LIKE CANCER THAT AFFECTS THE HUMAN BRAIN AND BIOLOGICAL SYSTEM BUT FOR WHICH THERE IS NO CURE...so do me a favor please, instead of stopping to post about a celebrity who enriched your lives but one which many of you have never met and certainly wont know, how about you BE THERE FOR FRIENDS, COLLEAGUES, FAMILY and anyone you know who suffers from the DISEASE called Depression???? Stop telling people who have Depression to: a/ Snap out of It; b/ Get over it or c/ Call-me-when-you-are-feeling-better-and-the-thing-that-is-getting-you-down-is-over....you wouldnt tell a Stage 4 Cancer patient to get over it so dont belittle those who suffer from Depression with this lack of empathy/morose response...but more than anything else, get off of FAKEBOOK (the forum of positive-only-responses) and for Gods sake put your money where you mouth is and be there for those close to you, whom you suspect are afflicted with this terrible debilitating DISEASE rather than posting about how bad you feel for Robin Williams...its too late for Robin but millions out there suffer in silence from this. It can be anyone. DO NOT JUDGE. BE THERE. .
