A fan of this page asked some good questions we feel many other voters in Greene county may be asking themselves: Is Luke Lamb even qualified to be the Sheriff? And that: Comments coming from outside Greene County is because Luke took his campaign outside Greene County to Springfield radio... First, well address his qualifications to be Sheriff with Lukes reply when asked that same question by the Alton Telegraph: Illinois state law requires that a sheriff be a citizen, live in the county he serves, and not be a convicted felon. There are no certification requirements, nor is experience in law enforcement required. I meet all the legal requirements to hold the office of Greene County Sheriff. Some of the best Sheriffs in the country had no prior law enforcement experience when they were elected. A case in point would be Morgan county just to our north. When Democrat Sheriff Henry Jackson was first elected he had no law enforcement experience. What Sheriff Jackson did have was a knowledge of the problems in the county that were not being served by the incumbent. Ironically, we have that very same problem in Greene county. If you doubt that, ask the good folks in Kane. Having 25 years of law enforcement experience doesnt make one a good Sheriff. When the people in the county are not being served, calls go unanswered, crimes are not being fully investigated, then we think its time for a change in Greene county. To the other portion of his question regarding the media. WMAY, WLDS News, and the Alton Telegraph cover Greene county news. Luke can not control what the local news outlets decide to cover or not cover in this campaign. We have been available however, its not the fault of the campaign that they choose to ignore covering this election. Its a red hearing to say the campaign went outside of the county when those news organizations have always covered Green County. Our criticism about outside influence was about the anonymous politically based trash comments people didnt want to put their name on. Our investigation has discovered that these people work in law enforcement and one individual works for the State outside of Greene county. This raises serious questions. One being, was this campaigning for McMillen done on state or county time? If so, then that is a serious violation of Illinois law. We have no evidence that Sheriff McMillen was involved nor are we making that accusation. It appears to be actions taken by individuals and Democrat political mudslinging partisans. Thank you for your questions Barney as they were good ones that we know other Greene County voters are asking. I hope we have answered them to your satisfaction.
