A fantastic day of GAA was held in Thornly Park on Sunday, where our newly formed ladies team played their first competitive match. Unfortunately, coming up against a strong Dunedin Connollys team that reached the All-Ireland Junior final last year the task was too tall for our ladies on the day. Despite a scoreline of 5-25 to 0-3 in favour of the Edinburgh ladies, playing our first match is considered a massive success and with a number of promising performances on the day the season will only get better! Our senior mens followed but came up short against a fit Dunedin Connollys side who reached the British Championship final last year. Connollys played a strong second half to win 4-17 to 1-7, although with the scoreline tied at 0-4 each at half time, we displayed the heart we needed to start our season with and know we can improve greatly throughout the league. We finished our evening with food, music and craic in Malones Irish Bar at our first ever County Colours night, where nearly 100 people attended throughout the night. Congratulations to our raffle prize winners and thanks to all who attended, played music, donated prizes and bought or sold raffle tickets, as well as Malones for hosting us!
