A fast & furious start to the day -- thunderstorms rolled across the farm this morning after the herd settled into their stalls. Over an inch of rain in less than 15 minutes. Wind gusts of 45 and 35 mph, sustained over 30 mph for about 10 minutes. Temps fell from 81 to 68 in virtually the blink of an eye. Momentary power loss as the grid absorbed a lightning hit just north of us. Wind blew the jumps over, knocked a few branches out of the trees, blew shavings out of the stalls and sent the muck cart careening down the aisle. Barn buddies have already shrugged it off and are snoozing. Arena soaked up the moisture & is ready for the 11 oclock lesson. Its cooler, less humid, a breeze out of the northeast, and cloudy. Perfect time to ride...
