A female hummingbird--I like to think of her as a regular summer resident--reappeared. Seems late every July I see her, luxuriating at our feeders, going from one to the other. See takes long drinks, then sits and rests, so unlike her frenetic counterpart, the male ruby-throated hummer. I imagine her recovering from having hatched and raised offspring...but am not sure. Is anyone familiar with the habits of the female hummingbird?
