A few days ago a Christian brother sent a text to me. The text and my response is engrained in my heart and mind. He made 2 very profound statements that I know to be true. In retrospect and self-examination his statements cut me to the core. I value deeply this mans thought process and heart felt opinion. The statements he made I thought we were to pray for our leadership and all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. He stated that some remarks I had posted bothered him and felt the need to address with me. Then he stated the before mentioned statements. That I had made some caustic remarks about the President and his administration. Well knock me over with a feather. Guilty as charged. He mentioned that Politicians are all the same in their quest for fame and fortune, all lie and sin. Again, spot on. I, in my feeble attempt to justify my actions and words said that I had prayed for the President up until about a yr or so ago. Then I rattled off all the negatives I could recall about this Presidents promises and how he seemed to be attacking the very fiber of this country. I then mentioned I am an equal opportunity complainer, that i had thrown many of the opposite party under the bus. Does this make it right? No, not in the least. Again, guilty as charged. I know that conversations about Politics and Faith can quickly lead one to say things not really meant, to justify ones feelings or thoughts. After self-examination and soul searching I have determined that I have been wrong in many areas. I am from this point forward refraining from being so absorbed politically. I will do my civic duty and vote for who I feel is the best candidate. That is all I can do singularly. This Christian brother brought home something I know and had not relied on. That being the battle is not yours, but The Lord......:)
