A few photos from my tour of Bertha today - my first chance to see the troubled machine up close. The visit underscored the challenge ahead for repairing it. Youd think there would be plenty of room in the worlds largest tunnel boring machine but in fact it is rather cramped - the reason theyre digging a repair pit in front. Contractors still say theyll resume mining next March, but theyre losing wiggle room in that schedule and the state estimates contractors are about two months behind in preparing the pit. Our story airs on a special post game newscast at around 9:00pm.
