A few quick notes from an (officially) old man. For my 70th - TopicsExpress

A few quick notes from an (officially) old man. For my 70th birthday, Doralee took me to White Point (literally--she did the driving and she paid the bills) for four great days.Dont think I was quite as appreciative as I should have been--for a combination politics/news junkie like me its awful hard to be at a place with only intermittent WiFi or mobile Internet service during an extraordinary political news week. I was constantly trying the follow the news in both Ottawa and Halifax. As I noted previously, I was able to livestream the new N.S. govt swearing in on Tuesday, But apart from that there would be service in one corner of the cabin, it would cease, Id move to another corner, sometimes across the room, sometimes a single step in one direction or the other, sometimes outdoors and sometimes it wasnt available period. irritating, not only to me, but I imagien also to dear spouse who patiently tolerated it all, but we didnt get out for our usual vigourous walks, or swims (indoor in pool)-but there were surfers. Doralee and Isaac gave me some books (real ones): John Demonts, Michael Ignatieffs and Susan Delacourts --but because of the above mentioned matters, didnt get much read--just the forwards. Also the first time we had actually witnessed the beginning of the annual disappearance of the beach at White Point. Part of the beach, by the golf course, was already gone. Ive long heard about this annual phenomenon--but never before witnessed it. Despite all of this, a good time. Always good to have a generous tolerant partner. One final point--as always when we go to White Point, it was good to see and talk to long time server Jen Hartsgrove--16 years and counting.
