A few things happened today. First we decided to wean Junior from Peppy. Peppy is now with Emily and Trick, she will probably spend the night on the lawn/driveway so as to not cause any undue stress on Emily. Junior happily followed the other horses into the hay field and didnt even notice that Peppy was missing. Currently, Peppy seems to be missing her buddies more than Junior. Second, I noticed that we have some amazing horses. Peppy has not gone out for a ride since she had Junior and today was the first time she was asked to leave him behind. Peppy did amazingly. She was super quiet and hardly even noticed she left Junior and her other buddies behind. Cannelle had two months of training where she was restarted back in 2012, since then, she had sat in her owners field until we got her late last fall when she moved into our field. Yesterday she had a short ride in the arena (the first in about a year and a half) and today she was an angel on the trail. Yes, she has a bit of spookiness but, she had that before and would need some miles to work on that. Third, Junior has been getting super friendly and we have been working with him to make it so we can easily put his halter on and off. I was able to walk right up to him and put it on this morning. Fourth, Pirate had his first day of ground driving and he definitely needs some work before I would look at allowing someone else to get on him. After a while of driving him, he was starting to move forward more and back up less. Hopefully we can strengthen his foundation and this will not be a future issue.
